VMware Server for free

VMware 一向執virtualization 技術的牛耳，幹IT 這行的恐怕沒幾個沒聽過它的大名。VMware Workstation 更是測試平台的超級兵器！有了它，只要RAM 夠多，在一台電腦上同時運行多少台虛擬平台都不是問題。俺的【鬼畜Mk-II 改】之所以裝備2G RAM 及兩隻HDD 都是為了它。

VMware 一星期前公佈了VMware Server，for FREE！主要功能跟之前的GSX Server 沒兩樣！VMware 真的打算之後讓大眾免費使用VMware Server 嗎？如真的如此，VMware 的裝備率肯定遠遠壓倒其他的virtualization solution了！

敢於嘗新的本人，當然第一時間撈下來安裝在【鬼畜Server (Fedora Core 4)】上，繼續推動虛擬日文Windows XP 【KICHIKU-VMJPN】繼續投產。

VMware Server免費任用的理由很簡單，因為要對抗免費的Xen。今年Intel同AMD出的CPU都會在hardware層面support Xen，AMD會同時support Xen & VMware Server，Intel CPU就未知。

不過Xen真的有這麼強嗎
畢竟VMWare搞虛擬機器也不是一天兩天的事了
穩定度跟支援度應該還是有點差吧

Xen claims that its performance is high. However, in order to achieve such high performance, Xen requires the guest OS to be ported before it can be run on Xen. So, there is no Windows support until the new CPUs release. We can compare the performance between Xen and VMWare after that.
